What is Reiki...
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is a gentle, non-invasive form of energy therapy which complements Western medical care. During a session, the practitioner's hands are lightly placed on or above the client in a series of positions with the goal of facilitating the client's ability to tap into the body's natural healing ability. Reiki energy flows through the practitioner’s hands to the client’s energy fields clearing and enhancing the energy throughout the client's body, aiding with the healing of mind, body and spirit.
During a Reiki session, the body shifts from sympathetic (fight-or-flight) mode into parasympathetic (rest and digest) mode. Parasympathetic mode is often referred to as the Relaxation Response; this is the state that your body needs to cultivate to heal. The Relaxation Response helps with immune system functioning, relieves aches, pains, and tension, promotes emotional and spiritual healing.
Stress, trauma and illness restrict the natural flow of energy through the body. A Reiki session stimulates your body's own self-healing response by seeking out the areas where energy is blocked and assisting the body in releasing deep-seated tensions, aiding in detoxification, and balancing mental and emotional states.
